SATURDAY 22 MARCH 2003
FLOWERS TO FAIRFORD - NATIONAL DEMO
COACHES & TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS CLICK HERE

Speakers:
Caroline Lucas, George Monbiot, Mark Thomas, Valerie Lucznikowska of September Eleventh Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, Richard Byrne from Voices in the Wilderness, Joe Letts, Ann Pettitt
Music: Seize The Day & Baka Beyond + Rinky-Dink & Lardy-Dar cycle powered sound systems.

Please note that today (Friday 21/3) a notice under section 12/14 of the public order act has been placed on the march - this restricts the area to which we have access. The procession can still go from Fairford to the main gate for a rally / flower & wreath laying but there is no access to other parts of the airbase perimeter. Police has asked that everyone attending should be aware of the dangers of trespass on a live airbase and should read MOD Police warning on Fairford
Here is the Gloucestershire Constabulary Welcome To Fairford leaflet (70k PDF file) printed versions of this will be handed out on the day.

Health & saftey: We are organising stewards for saturday's demo to make sure everything goes off as safely and peacefully as possible. We ask all participants to cooperate fully with the stewards who are helping to ensure the health and safety of all the protesters.

We have also organised for 20 toilets including 2 disabled cubicles to be available at Mill Street Car park near the assembly point in Fairford village.

Note: that the march and rally at the main gate are at a safe distance from the aircraft and there is no danger from the base as far as the peaceful protest is concerned.

FLOWERS TO FAIRFORD
For the death of our democracy.

For all the victims of the
biggest preventable tragedy in history.

Bring your own wreaths and bouquets to lay at the base where B-52's will bomb Iraq.

We want to highlight that bombing effects women and children in particular. The bombing of Iraq will shut down electical and water supplies to millions of people already weak, ill and hungry after years of sanctions. The UN and World Health Organisation estimate there will be tens of thousands direct casualties from the bombing and hundreds of thousands of indirect casualties of the failure of essential services.

For more information on visiting G10 and the peace camp and what to bring or more generally getting to Fairford & a map of the base see the intelligence page

NVDA: Fairford is becoming a focus for NVDA (non-violent direct action).
If you wish to take direct action we suggest you link up with an experienced group who can provide support and training. We believe it is vital that ant actions are entirely non-violent otherwise the peace movement risks becoming discredited and losing the wide public support we now enjoy. For latest legal briefings and info on section 44 stop and search click here.
Please remember the Fairford Peace Camp and G10 Bomber Watch are legal activities that we wish to remain in place. Do not give the police any excuses to close down the peace camps - thank-you.
