How to Find G10 & USAF Fairford

The 14 B-52 bombers are located in the area between gates 10 and 11, between the villages of Kempsford and Marton Meysey.

Map of the Base and Views of Fences: Here's a map that shows approximate fence lines around most of the base. Where no fence is shown it's because there's no access, not because there is no fence. Click the map for a larger version.

We also have a report of a cycle tour of the base on Jan 12th which shows various gates and fences. Interesting if you're into chain link in a big way!

Staying at G10 - don't expect much sleep we have not been allowed to have tents. There are some tents at the Axe and Compass pub at Kempsford where you can crash if you very exhaused - there is room to put up your own tent - and very tasty beein the pub.

We really only need a smallish crew at G10 over night. Probably no more than ten otherwise we might have public order restrictions placed on us. However don't let that stop you coming... if there's too many we can do shifts so people get some sleep or even set up another bomber watch!

Bring lots of warm clothes and waterproofs, a bin bag or two to keep your stuff dry and some food and drink to contribute - a large golf umbrella could a be useful. Bring a sleeping bag and rollmat might be usel but not essential. Also if you're happy to be id checked then some form of id such as your driving license. Bring a banner to hang on the fences - this makes a good backdrop for media shots - or just a white sheet and make one whilst your here. Local people and supporters are being very generous with provisions and equipment.

Do not bring any implements the police might regards as tools causing criminal damage such as wire cutters, ploughshares hammers or surface to air missiles. You are likely to id checked - a simple an painless procedure for most. You have the right to refuse the check in which case you are likely to be searched.

The nearest public car parks are at Fairford Village a mile north of the base and around 4 miles from Kempsford at Gate 10. Is easiest in Mill Lane / Park Street free car park at the top of Fairford village High Street just north of the church. Police say Coaches can park in the school car park (up High St. past church, to junction where the free car park is and turn right down Park Street. Cars can park down that street as well.

There is no viable public transport to Fairford. Nearest stations are Kemble and Swindon both over 10 miles away. There are very few rural buses, especially on Sundays.
